rainy days and mondays....

today is my day off, and it's raining cats and dogs out there. i thought i'd share a little bit of the lush, green view i have from my bedroom/office window. there's a big leafy maple tree outside the window, so i can hear raindrops hhitting the leaves. it's really peaceful. last night we had our very first thunderstorm! people were out in the streets dancing and yelling. i remember as a kid, the way i dealt with scary thunder was to yell and scream at the sky. it was like having a screaming match with god. no wonder i love to argue so much now!

this is the "waterfall". i know it's a horrible picture, but this is the best i could do without seeming like the creepy neighbor girl snpping pictures of peoples' house. anyway, everytime it rains, water pours down this roof joint. there's moss growing all over it. it's like my own private water feature! Posted by Picasa

HI Anne and Mike. We just got back yesterday from our trip to Louisiana. It was hot there! We had a good time, rode the Harley all over the place. The shrimp are plentiful and large this year, and many of the usual wholesale outlets for the shrimpers are no longer is business because of hurricane damage. So, they are selling off the boat -- beautiful shrimp for $2-$3 per pound. We bought 20 pounds fresh on Saturday AM, packed it in ice and headed home. We kept if iced down, and got home, deheaded them and put them in bags of water to freeze.

We stopped to see Kirsten on the way home. She just moved. Anyway, we had a great trip. You sound busy and happy. I was touched to read your comment about missing my house. We are eating asparagus, fresh broccoli, lettuce, arugula, some basil. I have strawberries just about ready to pick. I picked a ton of baby dill tonight and washed it up and will take it to work tomorrow. It is great on grilled salmon -- wish you were here to get some from me! Talk to you soon. Love to both of you.
